Honda: 1st concept

Unobtrusive Safety cell
Safety is the biggest issue with the motorcycle.
But safety on a motorcycle tends to detract from its liberating qualities.
My goal with this first concept was to find a way of providing a balance of safety and freedom.
With the safety features being more subtle but effective.

Fabric Car
I decided to collaborate with a textiles student for this project,
In order to explore the potential of fabrics with vehicles.
The idea was to create a flexible lightweight vehicle.
The passengers are suspended from a stuctural 'C' shape canopy
to give the sensation of floating with maximum comfort.
The suspended occupants form morph the vehicles form and give interesting
shapes with the negative space.

Paradigm Shift: The future of the sporst car.

What is "sports" about a modern day "sports car"
It isn't sustainable to own a car. It's even worse to own a big engined "sports" car.
Sports celebrate the human body.
This was my attempt to design something within a few days,
that isn't big, loud and dangerously fast,
but more dynamic, sustainable and thrilling.
You can be going 150mph in a sense numbing car,
but someone going at 40mph on a push bike will be enjoying a more sensory thrilling ride.
You can even take any number of illegal substances, which can create a feeling of speed, when in-fact you're still sat on the sofa.
Stillness is sustainable...Stillness is the move.
Through enhancing the feeling of speed on the senses (Without chemicals), I designed a mode of transport which gives a greater thrill at a more sustainable pace.
Simple solutions like slight visor magnification in your peripheral vision to accentuate the speed of the passing landscape,
Increasing tempo sounds as you build speed,
handles that monitor your pulse to keep you within a safe control level,
a head first stance as you build speed,
roller coaster type chest harness to give a safe yet exposed feeling.

Prada Ventorosso

WIG effect
For my final degree project I decided to create something so obscure sounding that it enabled me to express myself without too much comparative constraints.
I chose to create a luxury Wing in Ground effect craft, for the luxurious yet untraditionally expressive Prada brand.
When you study the nature of ground effect, all boats seem crass and sluggish.
The Ventorosso is designed to take the place of the vulgar gin palace, motor cruiser in the likes of Monaco harbour.
Fast and most importantly efficient, in-fact the most efficient form of flight known to man,
I aimed to design something more harmonious with the ocean and air, sculptural and luxurious.
I worked in collaboration with an Americas Cup design engineer, with past experience in WIG craft, in order to ensure this thing has some realism to back it up.
